The small town of Pai lies at a distance of 135 kms from Chiang Mai
and 111 kms from Mae Hong Son. Within Pai district there are approximately
20,000 inhabitants coming from a mixture of ethnic groups, including
Shan, Northern Thai, Lesu, Lahu, Karen, Haw Chinese and some Hmong.
