Basically you get what you pay for with this hotel. I had a few issues with one or two of the staff not being very helpful or friendly but we all have our off days i suppose? The rooms were cleaned to a resonable standard (got what you paid for). I think the whole of the hotel could do with a bit of a make over as it is looking a bit dated and worn.
I would have no problem stopping here again depending on the price?
All in all i would give this hotel a 6 out of 10.

This was the second time i had stayed in udon and found the hotel to be everything i need and found the service first class in everyway. Only thing i would say is the rooms need to be updated as the look old and out of date with more modern hotels.

The hotel room was fine, location is near the centre and there is good parking with security. Price 1050 was ok but wouldn t want to pay more. Pool is good but changing room is a little basic. The two downsides as I see it are the breakfasts which go downhill the later you go and the wait for cooked eggs, the other is the wifi which I am surprised is not free as other hotels in Udon and the price to use it. Handy having Yellow Bird at the back for a bit of late night entertainment and no noise travels to hotel.

We are from Laos and stayed there so many times, and requested to have double bed with an extra bed for my child, but when checkin they always provide twin beds.
I understand this is upon request, but dont understand why they cannot give double bed even we pay more for extra bed.

Hotel is a little dated, however clean and value for money. Staff are very tentative and the buffet breakfast was excellent.
Short walking distance to shopping centre, would stay again, no problem.

The Charoen Hotel is a nice hotel. Even though the outside of the hotel looked a little old the room I had (Junior Suite) was large and very clean and nice. It was a short 5 minute walk to all shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Staff were friendly and helpful to me when I stayed.

The Charoen is a good hotel. The room was clean and service good. Bathroom was dark though and internet access req d purchasing a card. Breakfast was good, although little variety day-to-day. I d stay again.

I did leave a comments form at reception upon check-out. Our room was not good, it smelled because the air-con dripped water onto the carpet. Also, our bed sheets were badly stained and there were long black hairs on the bed and in the bathroom.
I was disappointed as I have stayed at this hotel in the past and found it very good.

I had the pleasure to visit Charoen Hotel from july 19 2011 to august 5 2011. I found the location of the hotel to be superb, right in the middle of everything, the service was very good and the room was nice and clean. The food at the hotel was good.
I like to give the maids cleaning the room and the people at room service my best regards, they was always polite and very helpful. I will certainly use this hotel for my next trip to Udon Thani. A big smiley for the hotel

I stayed 10 days altogether at this hotel 6 in early may and 4 late may. Both time check-in was a problem , Charoen said that they did NOT get copy of my reservation via sawadee.. The last time my confirmed request were not fulfilled. Front desk persons need more and better training. Breakfast is good and on time at 6 am. Airport transfer fine. Chareon Hotel have excellent staff, very helpful. There is a swimming pool, internet. Pick up and drop off to Udon Thani airport included as part of the good service.
Food is excellent, either eat inside or outside by the pool with live music.

We enjoyed our stay we have been to udon a few times we usually stay at the englishmans retreat which is very good but after having been ill opted for something in the center. the room service was good the only thing is the rooms could do with a little paint. the breakfast chef was eccellent he is the only chef in 14 times to Thailand that has cooked my eggs the way i like them. the girls on reception were good and pleasent.

Me and my wife stay in Charoen hotel from 19-30 nov 2010 and its not much to complane about,its good location only 10-15 min walk to the city center (Robinson) 10 min to the bus station. The staff was realy polite and helpful.The breakfast was realy good ,the swimming pool was cleaned ever morning but if you like to swim alot i recomend you take with you swimming glases its lot of clor in the water.the elevator doors closed realy fast so if you have kids with you just have that in your mind.maby little hard beds but i diddent get hurt in my back.internet in the room is possible about 250 bath a week, overall we have realy realy good time at the hotel ,and we like to book this hotel again.

The service is great, I thought great beds, facilities ( pool area is great at night with live music). Good food.

The staff are so warm and welcoming and the laundry service is second to none....This hotel should be re-classified as 5 star according to us!

The Charoen hotel isvery closeto the main bus terminal, yet it is very peaceful at the hotel.The hotel is within walking distance of a new mall with many good restaurants. of course there are plenty of street food vendors near by. The staff arranged my trip to Ban Chiang for a good price--cheaper than the tour companies.the free hotel airport pick up and drop off was excellent service. thank you

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and throughly enjoyed both of my stays there.
The staff are more than welcoming and most helpful.
The rooms are clean and modern too with air conditioning which works perfectly.
I really recommend this hotel and will be returning there again in november 2010.
We can all find faults with any hotel if we want to like a piece of paint peeling off?? does this really affect your holiday? no!
This hotel is 100% fantastic value for money, such a really nice place for your saty in Udon Thani.
